South of Oregon Inlet:
The areas South of Oregon Inlet are served by the Hatteras Island Cancer Foundation, who raise their own funds and direct their own programs.  Contact Lisa Penosky to get contact information.

Our Programs

Transportation:
 
We maintain a roster of volunteer drivers for Dare County group members, and can arrange transportation to cancer related medical appointments and treatments.  Approved family members or friends may also be authorized to drive the patient and receive reimbursement. Members residing in Currituck County, the Dare County Mainland areas, or approved members south of Oregon Inlet will need to locate their own volunteer drivers, as we do not currently have volunteers in those areas.  Please contact our Transportation Coordinators for further information.
 
Temporary Financial Assistance:
 
We are able to provide limited financial assistance to cancer patient members in crisis on a needs-based and temporary basis. Please note that we do NOT pay medical bills! Please contact the program coordinators for further information.
 
The Loan Closet:
 
We have some items including wigs, head scarves, and other medical items available for loan as needed.  If you need something, please contact Lisa Penosky.
